Coach Smith has been coaching for the past 17 years in some capacity. He is currently the defensive coordinator for Kathleen and has served in that capacity for the past 4 seasons.

Coach Smith is a 1982 graduate of Lakeland Christian School. He lettered in soccer, basketball, and track. Coach Smith was a 2-year state champion in the shot put and 1-year state champion in the discus throw.

Coach Smith graduated from Liberty University in 1986. He lettered in track for one season.

Coach Smith previous coaching stints include stops at Fort Pierce Westwood High School, Kathleen Junior High, and George Jenkins High School where he served as the head coach for 2 years.

Coach Smith is the son of Walter Smith and Claudette Chatman. He is the brother of former Kathleen basketball player Livingston Chatman.

Coach Smith has 2 daughters - Kiara and Divonna Smith.
