Former Kathleen Linebacker (2002-2004) Scott Bryant was in town and KHSFootball.com was able to sit down with the former two time all-state talent and talk about how his college career is progressing. Bryant is entering his senior year on the football field at Florida International University.

KHSFootball.com: Talk about your goals for your senior year?

Scott Bryant: "I hope to perform well enough during the year that I make all-conference in the Sun Belt Conference. I also want to lead the team in tackles and really get my name out across the nation. I just want to do as best as I can and be a good representation of the talent that comes from Kathleen and Lakeland High."

KHSFootball.com: How has your college career gone so far?

Scott Bryant: "I feel like it is incomplete at the moment. I still have a lot to prove this final year. My sophomore year I put my name out there, my junior year I solidfied my position and showed what I could do on the field and my senior year I just hope to leave it all out on the field and leave a lasting impression on the FIU community."

KHSFootball.com: Where are you at academically?

Scott Bryant: "Right now I'm on track to graduate in the spring of 2010 with a degree in English. My mom was a 2nd grade teacher for over 20 years and so it was one of the reasons I decided to become an English major. "

KHSFootball.com: What will you do after school?

Scott Bryant: "I plan on training immediately after school in hopes of landing a job in the NFL. I will analyze the situation with my family and important people who can help me reach my goals. Depending on where I will be training at, I also plan on getting involved in community work."

KHSFootball.com: Why did you decide to attend Lakeland High during your senior year of high school?

Scott Bryant: "Coach Tate was a big influence on me and when he left Kathleen to coach at Ridge, I sat down and talked with my family and just decided to make the best decision for myself. It was definitely one of the hardest decision I made during my senior year of high school."

KHSFootball.com: Can you explain how the recruiting process went during your senior year of high school?

Scott Bryant: "I had a big year and there were some big name D-1 schools that showed interest in me, but my height was one of my disadvantages that kept them from making a serious commitment. There were a lot of smaller division level schools that wanted me bad, but it was always a goal of mine to play at a D-1 school. I also wanted to stay close to home, but I did look at all of my options. Thankfully, FIU really felt that I had something that could help their program and they offered me a scholarship."

KHSFootball.com: How does it feel to know that you have to ability to play as yourself in the latest edition of NCAA Football 2010?

Scott Bryant: "It's kind of a dream come true. Growing up you really don't think about being in a game, but it does motivate you to want to really push yourself that you get to the level where your likeness is featured in a game that big or you see yourself on billboards."

KHSFootball.com: Would you like to offer any advice to the current group of Kathleen players looking to play football at the collegiate level?

Scott Bryant: "Academics should be your first priority. Work hard while you have the chance to now and don't take it for granted. Keep it consistent on a day to day basis and try to stay healthy. Stay humble if you are talented. Also if you believe in God have faith in him and always work hard because faith without works is nothing and that is why I always keep working."
