Spring Rewind: Special Teams
|
|
Courtesy: KHSFootball.com Reid Pomeroy, Special Teams Coordinator, has a knack for finding reliable kickers and the trend continued last season with the emergence of Javier Rodea as the go to guy. Coach Pomeroy said if he had to give out a progress report on Rodea, he said that he started last lseason as a 5, finished at a 7 and finished the spring at about an 8. He believes that over the summer Javier will only continue to get better as he works out int he weight room and attends a few kicking camps. Coach Pomeroy likes the fact that Javier loves to continue to learn how to become a better football player by watching film, listening to advice and asking questions. Long snapper is another important position in special teams and newcomer, Otis Buford, will be in chahrge of the majority of those duties. Despite having never long snapped before, Coach Pomeroy likes Buford's long arms, lanky frame and athleticism, which he described as great attributes for what he looks for in his long snappers.
